Juan Hernández

Juan Hernández is a renowned Valencian luthier whose life has always been linked to the art of the Spanish guitar. Born in the heart of Valencia’s guitar tradition, he began his training as an apprentice in the legendary Guitarras Esteve workshops, where he acquired the fundamentals of the trade and a unique sensitivity for working with wood. There, surrounded by great master craftsmen, he learned that each instrument is a living work that must combine technical precision, sound expression and aesthetic beauty.

After more than two decades dedicated to building guitars in Esteve, Hernández decided to promote his own project and founded the Juan Hernández Guitars workshop, with the aim of keeping the Valencian artisanal heritage alive and at the same time incorporating advances that would improve the stability and resonance of his instruments.

Today, the workshop is the reflection of a family history and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Juan works alongside his son Alberto Hernández, also a luthier, thus continuing a tradition that unites generations. Together they create classical and flamenco guitars appreciated around the world for their balanced sound, their comfort to play and the finesse of their finishes.

With more than thirty years dedicated to the artisanal construction of guitars, the career of Juan Hernández stands out for its rigor, its perseverance and its technical evolution. During his extensive period at Guitarras Esteve, he actively participated in the creation of instruments that set a quality standard within the sector. This experience allowed him to develop a deep knowledge of the behavior of each wood, the bracing design and the acoustic response required by each model.

With the founding of his own workshop, Hernández transferred all that experience to a more artisanal and personalized production. In the Juan Hernández Guitars workshop, each guitar is built by hand with meticulous control at each stage: the selection and drying of the woods, the making of the neck, the assembly of the soundboard and the final finish, all designed to offer a warm, powerful and expressive sound.

Under his direction and now also with the collaboration of his son Alberto, the workshop has achieved international recognition. Their guitars are exported to numerous countries and are chosen by both advanced students and professionals looking for a high-level instrument. The combination of inherited tradition and constant innovation has made the name Juan Hernández an undisputed reference within the Spanish guitar scene.
