The Prudencio Saez 55 Lute is a calvete-type instrument, built entirely with solid woods: solid German spruce top, solid sapele sides and back, and ebony fingerboard. The neck is made of samanguila, with a rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle, gold or nickel-plated headstock and the characteristic oval soundhole that distinguishes this series. The finish isopen-pore or satin lacquer varnish, designed to respect the natural acoustics of the set and guarantee an immediate response under the fingers.

The German spruce top provides a fast, articulate and very defined response, with transparent treble and a balanced projection that fills the room without stridency. The solid sapele on the back and sides offers a warm sound, with present but controlled bass, clear mids and a harmonic richness that favors clean arpeggios, fluid strums and singable melodies with good sustain. The ebony fingerboard and lute-specific short scale provide a firm, precise tactile feel, ideal for fast passages, detailed accompaniments, and traditional or contemporary repertoire in an authentic handcrafted concert instrument. ​
