About the product
The Prudencio Saez workshop
The Prudencio Saez 70 lute was born in the historic workshop of Torrent (Valencia), a benchmark in classical guitars, flamenco guitars and plectrum instruments made in Spain with artisanal luthery criteria. This house is characterized by always working with selected solid woods and a very careful focus on ergonomics and stability, designed for both the professional musician and the demanding amateur looking for an accessible concert instrument.
Technical details and construction
The Laud 70 is built entirely with solid woods: solid spruce top, solid flamed maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard and cedar neck, a classic combination for its balance between rigidity, lightness and harmonic richness. The bridge is made of rosewood, with a bone nut and saddle, a high-precision aged headstock and high-gloss lacquer varnish, which enhances the grain of the maple and protects the natural acoustics of the instrument. The oval soundhole, the scale around 482–500 mm and the “calvete” type body provide a comfortable response in the left hand and a very controllable touch for the Spanish lute repertoire.
Sound and character
The solid spruce top provides a clear attack, great balanced projection and generous sustain, with defined highs and round lows, ideal for cantabile melodic lines and transparent arpeggios. The solid flamed maple of the back and sides reinforces rhythmic precision and articulation, offering a warm but very clear sound, perfect for plectrum ensembles, traditional music and arrangements that share space with Spanish guitar or flamenco guitar. The sensation to the touch is that of a light instrument, lively under the fingers, with an immediate response that invites you to explore dynamic nuances and a very expressive tonal depth.
A handmade lute like this Prudencio Saez 70 is a piece that is enjoyed as much for its sound as for its beauty, and that ends up becoming the sound center of any corner where it is played.
