About the product
The Paco Castillo workshop
The firm Paco Castillo was born from a saga of Spanish luthiers with extensive experience in artisanal concert guitars, combining artisanal processes with very modern quality controls. Its catalog focuses on professional-grade string instruments, with selected woods and a clear philosophy: to provide the player with an immediate feeling of confidence, both in the ear and under the fingers.
Technical details and construction
The Laud L6 has a solid spruce top, chosen for its great capacity for balanced projection and harmonic richness in the high registers. The back and sides are made of solid curly maple, with a very expressive grain that provides visual brilliance and a fast, articulate and very defined response. The mast is made of Honduran cedar, with an ebony fingerboard and luxury gold tuners, configuring a robust concert instrument, stable in tuning and with a professional feel. The glossy finish enhances the beauty of the curly maple and protects the wood without drowning out the natural resonance of the body.
Sound and character
Sound-wise, this lute offers a luminous tone, with clear highs and great transparency in the attack, ideal for articulated plectrum lines and pulse orchestral passages. The curly maple body provides a warm but controlled sound, with balanced projection, excellent note-to-note definition and a generous enough sustain for cantabile phrasing without losing rhythmic precision. The immediate response facilitates dynamic control, both for the classical player and for those who come from the Spanish guitar and are looking for a plucked string instrument with great comfort and modern ergonomics.
A handcrafted lute like the Paco Castillo L6 invites you to rediscover your plectrum repertoire with a rich timbral palette, stage presence and a tactile pleasure that is felt from the first chord.
