About the product

Juan Hernández was born in Turís, Valencia, and began his apprenticeship at the age of 15 in the prestigious Francisco Esteve workshop. Today, together with his son Alberto, he perpetuates a construction philosophy that respects traditional Spanish systems: guitars made with time and patience, entirely by hand.

The Romance classical guitar features asolid Canadian cedar top (Thuja Plicata) or German spruce (Picea Abies), depending on the player’s preference. The back and sides are made of granadillo (Platymiscium Yucatanum), a dense wood that provides shine and projection. The cedar mast (Cedrela odorata) incorporates carbon fiber rod reinforcement to ensure stability over the years. The African ebony fingerboard (Diospyros Crassiflora Hiern) and the nitrocellulose varnish complete this handcrafted Spanish instrument with 20 frets and a 650 mm scale.

With a Canadian cedar top, the Romance model reveals a warm and dark sound soul, where the bass draws a deep and enveloping landscape, and the mids flow with a silky singability. The response is immediate and rounded, ideal for those looking for that mature and traditional voice from the first chord.

With a German spruce top, the instrument acquires luminosity and clarity: the treble shines with crystalline transparency, the projection expands with greater reach and the attack defines each note with surgical precision. Perfect for complex arpeggios that demand separation and brightness.

In both versions, the granadillo provides excellent sustain and harmonic balance, creating a handcrafted concert guitar that responds with equal nobility to intimate study or demanding performance.

To play Romance is to rediscover why Valencian artisan guitars have conquered the world: each chord is a journey, each arpeggio an emotion that deserves to be experienced.
