About the product
The Paco Castillo workshop
Paco Castillo, linked to the Juliá family in the Valencian guitar tradition, has established itself as a reference firm in classical guitar, flamenco guitar and handcrafted plectrum instruments made in Spain, with careful and reliable construction for intensive use. The B4C bandurria embodies this philosophy: an accessible concert instrument, built entirely with selected solid woods and a fit oriented towards the performer’s daily comfort.
Technical details and construction
The Paco Castillo Bandurria B4C has a solid German spruce top, reinforced with Indian rosewood profiles, which provide stability and extra definition to the contour of the instrument. The back and sides are made of solid European cypress, with an African mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard, a classic Spanish luthier combination that balances lightness, rigidity and precision in the touch. The glossy finish highlights the clear grain of the cypress and the sobriety of the ebony, while the luxury gold tuners complete a handcrafted set prepared for years of stability and secure tuning.
Sound and character
The solid German spruce top offers an immediate response, with great transparency and harmonic richness, ideal for cantabile phrasings, defined arpeggios and fast passages typical of the repertoire of plectrum that dialogues with classical guitar and flamenco guitar. The solid cypress provides a warm but clear sound, with balanced projection and natural acoustics that fills the room without stridency, maintaining good separation between voices and a very musical controlled sustain. The sensation when playing is that of a lively and light instrument, of professional range, which invites both the demanding amateur and the advanced musician to enjoy at home fine dynamic nuances in an authentic handcrafted instrument made in Spain.
A professional bandurria like the Paco Castillo B4C easily becomes the sound center of the living room: just take it out of the case, feel its comfort as a Spanish concert guitar and let its resonance make it impossible to return it to the stand after “just one more piece.”
